Before you travel

Everything you need to help you plan, pack and feel prepared before your trip.

This guide covers what is included in Jessica, what to bring, where to stay, how to book the right campsite, and useful travel information to help make your Kent getaway easier and more enjoyable.

We know accessible travel often comes with extra planning, extra questions, and extra “have I missed anything?” moments. This page is here to make things clearer, calmer, and a lot easier to scan when your brain is already juggling ten tabs and a packing list.

What’s included

Jessica comes with thoughtful extras and practical comforts to help you settle in quickly and start your trip feeling at home.

What to pack

You only need the essentials. Bedding and guest towels are already provided, so there is no need to pack like you are annexing a small island.

Shopping before you arrive

A quick supermarket stop on the way can make arrival far easier, especially when you can load everything straight into the fridge and cupboards.

Booking your campsite

Book as early as you can, check accessibility information carefully, and request the pitch features that will make life easier once you arrive.

A warm welcome from us

At Adaptive Motorhome Hire, we are dedicated to accessible and inclusive travel through a person-centred approach and our professionally adapted motorhome, Jessica Bessacarr.

We know how precious family time is. Those moments of freedom, laughter and shared adventure are the things people remember for years. We also know that when disability is part of the picture, travel often comes with more planning than it should. Access checks. Facilities. Equipment. The little details that can feel small on paper but huge in real life.

That is why we want to be more than a motorhome hire company. We want to be the practical support, the reassuring voice, and the team that helps your trip feel possible from the start.

Need adjustments? Prefer decaf? Oat milk? Got allergies or specific requirements? Just let us know before your trip and we will always do our best to personalise your welcome.

Shopping before you arrive

One of the simplest ways to make arrival easier is to stop for supplies on the way. Many supermarkets can accommodate motorhomes in larger parking areas or around the back, which often gives you more room and less stress when loading food and essentials.

Why we recommend it

  • More room to park and get in and out comfortably
  • Easier access when loading food and essentials
  • Less hassle than trying to organise everything before leaving home
  • A simpler, calmer start once you reach the campsite

What it helps with

  • A cuppa ready as soon as you arrive
  • Breakfast and sandwich bits ready to go
  • Easy lunches and cosy evening meals sorted
  • Your favourite essentials right where you want them

Park up, shop, and load everything straight into Jessica before you even leave the car park. It is one of those tiny upgrades that makes the start of the trip feel instantly less chaotic.

What to pack

We have bedding and guest towels ready for you, so you only need to bring the basics rather than packing every object known to humankind.

Your essentials

  • Clothes
  • Wash bag
  • Beach towel
  • Sun cream or raincoat, ideally both because British weather enjoys improvisation
  • Chargers for phones, laptops or hairdryers
  • A good book or your usual comfort items

Helpful reminders

  • You will have electric hook-up at your campsite
  • Power is shared, so try not to plug everything in at once
  • Many campsites have excellent facilities and some have laundry rooms
  • We can provide a washing line if you would like one

Top tip: most people overpack. You will probably need less than you think, and keeping things simpler usually makes the whole trip feel calmer and easier to manage.
