Welcome to Adaptive Motorhome Hire, a new and exciting family run social enterprise, dedicated to providing accessible and inclusive travel options. We’re proud to introduce our first wheelchair-accessible motorhome, the 2017 Bessacarr-Fiat Ducato Semi-Automatic. It’s a testament to the power of thoughtful design and has been professionally adapted by Coachbuilt GB.

Crafted for both comfort and functionality, the motorhome can be driven on a standard B licence (3500kg), with dimensions of 7.1m length and 2.3m width. Inside, you’ll find a welcoming living space designed to accommodate 2-3 berths and 4 secure seat belts. (Please note there is a small step up from the living area into the cab.)
Discover the ultimate in flexible travel with our meticulously designed motorhome. The inviting front lounge serves as a versatile hub, featuring comfortable, forward-facing seating with two integrated seat belts for safe passenger travel.
By day, this area transforms into a convivial dining space, perfect for shared meals and leisurely gatherings. The cab’s swivel seats seamlessly integrate with the parallel bench seating, expanding the dinette and creating a spacious, comfortable environment.
As evening approaches, the lounge converts into one of two adaptable sleeping arrangements, catering to your specific needs. At the rear, a luxurious Kintech bed extends into a generous double, providing a restful night’s sleep with convenient access to the adjacent, well-appointed wetroom.
A thoughtfully placed privacy curtain allows you to create separate living zones. This motorhome is engineered to maximize space and functionality, offering a seamless blend of comfort, convenience, and adaptability for your next adventure

A remote control device fitted to the steering wheel, enables safe, one-handed operation to allow drivers with limited mobility to operate a range of functions such as indicators, wipers, headlights and horn.
The push/pull single lever mechanically operates the accelerator & brake for drivers who are unable to operate the foot pedals. Drivers must have prior experience using the specific type of driving aid.
Maximum weight 300 kg (47 stone). This is the combined weight of the user and the chair.
Maximum width of wheelchair 700mm (27 inches).
Maximum weight 70 kg (11 stone). An exterior rack with ratchet straps is located at the rear of the vehicle, however please note, this does not include a waterproof cover.
It is your responsibility to ensure your wheelchair and tie down hooks are compatible with the restraint system. You must provide your own hooks to attach to the system. If travelling in the wheelchair you must have a valid crash test certificate.
The adaptive motorhome offers two flexible sleeping areas:
The front sofa converts into a comfortable double bed.
The rear kintech bed also transforms into a double bed.
We recommend a maximum of three occupants. This takes into account group size, weight, size of mobility aids and payload capacity.
Prioritising payload and available space allows you to maximise the functionality of the accessible features and ensures a safe and enjoyable journey.

Six years ago, our lives took an unexpected turn. A devastating accident left Terry with life-altering injuries. Suddenly, our world shifted. The independence and freedom we cherished were taken from us, and we faced the daunting task of adapting as a family.
One silver lining emerged: our love for travel. We decided to trade in our camping gear and purchase a motorhome. However, our search for accessible options was met with disappointment. We realised a critical gap in the market: a lack of truly inclusive motorhome rental options.
This realisation ignited a spark within us. Alongside my career, dedicating over 25 years to empowering individuals with disabilities within the care and education sector, between us we both deeply understood the importance of inclusivity, independence, and choice. When our own lives were suddenly impacted, we knew we had to find a way to make a difference.
Together we embarked on a mission to build a social enterprise, Adaptive Motorhome Hire, dedicated to empowering people with disabilities to experience the joy and freedom of inclusive travel. Our vision is to create a fleet of expertly adapted motorhomes that offer welcoming and accessible environments for everyone.

Drivers with endorsements may be added subject to policy conditions. Please contact us prior to booking for insurance approval.
Our minimum hire period is 4 days. Maximum 90 days
We strongly recommend staying at a campsite for convenience, amenities and peace of mind.
A campsite is a great option to foster a sense of community. Whilst there’s a romantic appeal to wild camping, it’s important to note it is generally not permitted in England and Wales without landowner permission.
While we currently do not offer European travel options, we are actively working to expand our services in the future
Insurance Coverage: The insurance policy includes one named driver, additional drivers will incur a £100 fee per week.
Comprehensive Motorhome Hire Insurance: Provided by Allianz Insurance, which covers against most eventualities
Motor Legal Expenses: More detailed information is available in the insurance documentation provided with your rental agreement.
European travel: While we currently do not offer European travel options, we are actively working to expand our services in the future
Travel insurance: We recommend purchasing travel insurance, the advantages are:
Unexpected Events: Travel insurance can cover unforeseen events such as trip cancellation, lost or stolen belongings, third-party liability, motorhome-specific coverage and collision damage waiver (CDW)
Security deposit: A security deposit of £1000 is required. This deposit is not withdrawn from your account; it is pre-authorised on your chosen bank card.
We hold this pre-authorisation for up to seven working days after your return to cover any potential damage to the motorhome or its contents beyond normal wear and tear.

Collection:
To ensure a smooth and enjoyable rental experience, we allocate up to 1 hour for the collection process. This allows us ample time to:
Finalise the rental agreement and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed.
Demonstrate the vehicle and the accessible features such as operation of the lift, wheelchair restraint systems, and other adaptations.
Conduct a comprehensive safety briefing and answer any questions you may have.
Complete a pre-rental damage inspection with you to document any existing damage.
Return:
Upon return, please allow approximately 30mins to 1 hour for the following:
Conduct a post-rental inspection to check for any new damage.
Gather feedback on your rental experience and address any concerns.
